The Avaya line of servers delivers the full power of our Aura™ software to large and mid-sized businesses. Designed for reliability in the most demanding customer environments, they feature powerful industry-standard processors running the Linux operating system. Their scalable architecture gives businesses flexibility to deliver the communications capabilities they need now—with room to grow in the future.
The S8300 Server with a G700, G450, G350 or G250 Media Gateway provides a flexible solution for growing companies to streamline voice and data operations over one networked infrastructure. It can be a standalone solution for a small business or a remote edge device for a larger enterprise network with 8 to 450 stations. In addition to acting as the main controller, the S8300 also can be used as a local survivable processor (LSP).
The S8300 Server resides inside a G700, G450, G350 or G250 Media Gateway. It can be used as a standalone communication system or as a fully surivable remote gateway. The S8300 can be the primary controller for up to 50 remote G250, G350, G450 and G700 Media Gateways.
As with the S8400, S8500 and S8700 series Servers, the S8300 supports the Linux operating system and it is powered by Communication Manager. It supports industry standard call control, quality of service, management functions, and IP, digital, and analog endpoints.
New with Release 5.0 is the ability to run both Communication Manager and SIP Enablement Services on the same S8300 Server. This provides a complete, all in one H.323, SIP and TDM solution for small to mid sized businesses and branch locations of larger businesses.

Avaya S8300 Benefits and Features
The Avaya S8300 Media Server has three basic hardware configurations:
A G700 Media Gateway, which is architecturally-based on the Avaya P330 and C360 switches, contains VoIP resources and modular interface connectivity. The media modules provide analog, digital, T1 / E1, BRI, and additional VoIP capabilities.
The G350 Media Gateway features a VoIP engine and WAN router and provides full support for legacy digital and analog telephones. Like the G700 Media Gateway, the media modules in a G350 Media Gateway provide analog, digital, T1 / E1, BRI, and additional VoIP capabilities. The following figure shows an S8300 Media Server and media modules in a G350 Media Gateway.
The G250 Media Gateway features a VoIP engine, WAN router, and Power over Ethernet switch. The G250 Media Gateway is available in four models — analog, BRI, DCP, and DS-1. The G250 Media Gateway supports analog and IP telephones. The G250 Media Gateway has built-in media modules. The G250 Media Gateway has two slots available for optional modules — slot V1 houses an optional S8300 Media Server and slot V2 houses one of two optional WAN media modules.
The S8400 Server is a Linux-based server that provides Communication Manager processing functionality in stand alone, single port network, and telephony systems requiring up to 900 stations. The S8400 Media Server provides midsize enterprises with a cost-effective solution to support up to five media gateways and multiple locations. It also supports software for voice messaging, fax messaging, auto attendant and other applications.
The S8400 Media Server consists of a TN8400 hardware/software platform, TN8412AP SIPI circuit pack, Avaya Communication Manager, and optionally IA770 messaging software. The server is available in two configurations: New Customer package and a Migration Hardware package.
The included IA770 integrated messaging application supports the equivalent of 8 ports of voice messaging simultaneously, and up to 450 light duty users.

The S8400 Media Server consists of a TN8400 hardware/software platform, TN8412AP SIPI circuit pack, Avaya Communication Manager, and optionally IA770 messaging software. The server is available in two configurations: New Customer package and a Migration Hardware package.
S8400 Media Server supports the messaging, call center and wireless solutions currently supported on Avaya Linux servers. The S8400 Media Server uses the TN8412AP S8400 IP Interface (SIPI) circuit pack to provide:
Designed to support distributed IP for mid-sized and large businesses, this server offers powerful reliability features: It can be configured as a Local Survivable Processor (LSP), allowing it to act as a higher capacity LSP for larger remote sites of a distributed enterprise. It provides enterprise survivability, similar to ESS, allowing it to serve as a “regional” survivable server for multiple H.248 gateways. It Includes a RAM Disk, so it can operate even in the event of a disk failure.
The S8500 Server brings all of the robust performance and rich feature set of Communication Manager Release 2.0 or later release onto an industry standard processor running an industry standard operating system. This processing engine drives the switching fabric of the system. The S8500 Server is a Pentium 4 server running Linux operating system. The simplex S8500 Server is 1 U high and fits into a 19″ four-post data rack.
In new system sales, the S8500 Server will be sold with the G650 Media Gateway as well as with the G700 and G350 Media Gateways. Customers that are currently on Avaya legacy systems such as the DEFINITY® Server SI, R (Direct Connect only – no Center Stage Switch), CSI and S8100 can easily migrate to the S8500 Media Server and maintain their current Media Gateways (e.g.: CMC, SCC1, MCC1, G600). The S8500 Media Server supports IP Port Network Connectivity for new sales and Direct Connect for SI/R migrations. Center Stage connectivity is not supported on the S8500 Server.
The Avaya S8500 Server is a single server. The S8500-series run the Linux operating System, and feature Communication Manager. The S8500-series can support Internet Protocol (IP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and traditional endpoints. This tri-level support enables new technology and eases migration from legacy Avaya systems. The S8500-series Servers are a perfect solution for mid-sized customers, with growth of up to 3200 ports.

Avaya S8500 Benefits and Features
An S8500-series Server configuration includes the following:
Media gateways for main locations, which individually or as stacks connect to port networks through one or more of the following gateways:
The S8500C Server comes standard with the following hardware components:
The S8510 comes with the following components:
The system board includes the following features:
The S8700 Server line offers three different models, all of which offer duplicated processors for greater reliability. The processors can be separated up to ten kilometers (6.3 miles) to help ensure business continuity. The S8710 Media Server is based around an Intel processor, while the S8710 Media Server and the S8730 Server use the AMD Opteron and AMD Opteron Quad-Core processors, respectively
The S8700 Media Server is a 19″ rack mount, Intel Processor based server, running the Linux operating system. The S8700 with Communication Manager provides a rock solid foundation for a highly flexible converged solution that meets a variety of telephony needs. The S8700 uses two processors to help ensure maximum up time and the processors can be separated up to 10 kilometers (6.3 miles) to help ensure business continuity.
The S8700 can process up to 300,000 Busy Hour Call Completions and support up to 36,000 stations, of which 12,000 can be IP stations, and 8,000 trunks enabling it to support large multi-national corporations and contact center operations.
The S8700-series Servers use high-speed connections to route voice, data, and video between the following trunks and lines:
The S8730, S8720, and S8710 Servers are similar in functionality. All servers support Communication Manager. The S8730 and S8720 servers are offered in two duplication configurations. The S8730 and S8720 can be ordered with hardware duplication using the DAL2 duplication memory card. The S8730 and S8720 can also be ordered with software duplication which uses a method of shadowing data between the active and standby processors in a system.
Avaya S8700 Benefits and Features
The S8720 Server is available in two configurations:
The extra large configuration provides higher capacities. This configuration requires the DAL2 card when used with hardware duplication.
The S8730, S8720, and S8710 Servers support two types of port network configurations, or a combination of both:
